Flexential is thrilled to announce the release of our second annual Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) report. This comprehensive document underscores our unwavering dedication to sustainability, social responsibility, and robust governance practices, reflecting our efforts over the past year and our vision for the future.

Message from the CEO

Chris Downie, CEO of Flexential, opens the report with a strong message of progress and commitment. “In our second ESG report, I’m thrilled to highlight the strides Flexential has made in embedding sustainable and ethical practices into every facet of our operations. Over the past year, we've significantly expanded our data centers and introduced innovative interconnection solutions, always with an eye on environmental responsibility and operational excellence.”

Key highlights from the report:

1. Environmental sustainability

Our next-generation data centers are at the forefront of energy efficiency and sustainability. Designed with a reduced carbon footprint in mind, these facilities exemplify our commitment to environmental stewardship. Key achievements include:

Energy efficiency projects: Flexential evaluated 60% of its data center fleet for energy efficiency improvements, identifying 23 potential projects.

Innovative cooling solutions: Investments in heat exchangers and adiabatic pre-coolers in several data centers, which significantly reduce energy consumption.

Green financing: Continued utilization of our Green Finance Program to support sustainable business growth, with a total of ~$2.1 billion in Green ABS notes issued.

2. Social responsibility

Flexential remains dedicated to fostering an inclusive, supportive workplace and actively contributing to our communities. Our social initiatives are geared towards:

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB): Proactive DEIB programs, regular awareness observances, and employee feedback mechanisms to gauge and enhance organizational impact.

Employee well-being: Comprehensive health and wellness programs, including Employee Assistance Programs and leadership training, with employees completing over 5,500 hours of training in 2023.

Community engagement: Through FlexCares, we support local communities, emphasizing volunteerism and philanthropy that align with our values.

3. Governance excellence

Ensuring robust governance structures is crucial for our sustainable growth. Highlights in this area include:

Compliance and certification: Maintaining rigorous compliance with multiple third-party certifications, including FISMA-High, HITRUST, ISO 27001, and PCI DSS.

Risk and compliance management: Enhanced frameworks to manage and mitigate operational risks, with continuous monitoring and improvements to our governance practices.
